Title: Turbomole on AMD Bulldozer/Interlagos systems
Post by: uwe on January 02, 2012, 11:39:29 AM
Hello,

the default binaries of Turbomole do run very slowly on our  AMD FX(tm)-8150 Eight-Core Processor, and we do not yet know whether this is a problem with the system (some unfortunate system settings) or in general with the architecture.

Currently we are running openSUSE 12.1 (x86_64) with the default settings without any kernel patches from AMD.

If you read this in January 2012: If anyone has a similar system we would like to ask you to contact turbomole@cosmologic.de !! This would help us to find the source of problem more quickly.

We will provide a solution and hopefully new binaries as soon as possible, a notification about the availability will be sent to the Turbomole mailing list.

Regards,

Uwe

Hello,

it seems to be a problem with the original OpenSuSE 12.1 version, Intel CPU based machines show a similar behavior. Updating OpenSuSE to either 12.2 or doing a simple build-in online update of 12.1 will resolve the problem.
